Built in 1906, The Park Light Inn is registered in the National Registry of Historical Places as an exquisite example of New England's Queen Anne Colonial/Victorian architecture. The two-story classic New England bed and breakfast is well appointed with 18th and 19th century antiques and beautiful original oil on canvas paintings and art, ornate chandeliers along with countless striking architectural details reflecting the warmth and romance of an bygone era. It is a rare jewel among the historic homes of Chester, Vermont, recognized in the Chester Historic Homes Walking Tour Guide, as well as, in the 2008 Chester Historical Society Calendar.

The Lamppost -

better known as the “Park Light”

The Park Light Inn bed and breakfast is so named for the quaint lamppost that greets guests as they enter the drive. A historic piece of Vermont, the lamppost was acquired in the 1970s. It was carefully removed (along with 5 others on their original concrete bases) from Rutland's Depot Park, and then purchased from an antique dealer who had received the pieces from Rutland Township. It has remained in place on the grounds of the Park Light Inn, serving as a Chester landmark for over 30 years.

Each of suite at the Park Light has been named after a nearby Vermont state park, offering unique blend of luxurious accommodations and romantic ambiance in a casual setting - ideal for romantic getaways, family reunions/vacations, ski trips or business travel.

We ask that you please take a moment to review our policies and note that reservation and cancellation policies are a vital part of managing a small country inn bed and breakfast. For your comfort and that of our other guests, we ask that you familiarize yourself with these policies and if at any time a question should arise, please feel free to email or call us toll free at (888) 875-4417.

• Accommodations: All rooms at the Park Light Inn accommodate 2 persons and are quoted at double occupancy; suites accommodate 3 to 4 persons* unless noted otherwise. An additional charge of $39.00 per person will be applied for each additional person in the room/suite. Rates do not include Vermont State Rooms and Meals Tax at 9%, which will be applied to your final bill at check-out.

• Children: are welcome at The Park Light Inn, however for safety reasons; they may not use the hot tub. For your comfort and that of other guests we ask that you discuss your family's needs with the innkeepers prior to booking. Certain rooms/suites are better suited for parents traveling with children. If you are traveling child with you under the age of 12, please telephone the innkeepers toll free at 888-875-4417 for specific room recommendations. Regardless of age, children are charged an applicable "additional person in room" rate.

• Pets: Unfortunately, the Park Light Inn is not suitable for pets. The following is a list of nearby Kennels that may be able to assist with loving care for pets.

• Smoking: As a Vermont Green Hotel and in accordance with Vermont State Law, the Park Light Inn offers a non-smoking environment. In consideration of our guests, we ask that you honor the non-smoking policy. Smoking is permitted outdoors. Designated weather protected areas offer comfortable seating (with mountain views) for outdoor smoking. Smoking in guestrooms and common areas I strictly prohibited and will result in a charge of cleaning/dry cleaning and loss of use of the room.

• Meals: A full breakfast is included in the room rate. We are delighted to prepare additional meals, cheese and/or fruit platters, desserts etc. However, because we use only the freshest of ingredients, we require a 24-hour advance notice.

• Check-in: is between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Arrangements must be made in advance if you are unable to arrive during the stated check-in time.

• Check-out: is at or before 11:00 a.m. You are welcome to leave your car in our driveway if you would like to spend additional time walking around town.

• Deposit: A reservation deposit of 50% must be prepaid in advance at the time of booking. A minimum of one night deposit is required to confirm your reservation. Reservations may be guaranteed via a check, cash or credit card. Visa, MasterCard, American Express accepted.

• Cancellations: In the event that it should become necessary for you to cancel your travel arrangements, we will gladly refund your deposit, less a $35.00 cancellation fee, under the following conditions; confirmed (email/fax) receipt of notice of cancellation occurring during off-peak periods, with greater than 14 days notification (prior to your scheduled arrival). And during peak season, holiday and special occasion (weddings and "entire inn") bookings with a minimum of 30 days notice. Should notification of cancellation be received outside of the required notification period, (including early check out), naturally we will use best efforts to re-book the room reserved for you. If we are successful in rebooking the room, only the cancellation fee will be charged. However, in the event that are unable to rebook the room/suite, the full nightly rate will be charged. Please note that cancellation policies are fully applicable when placing "last minute bookings" (within 14 days of arrival).
